MBALE DISTRICT LAUNCHES UGX 213 MILLION ROAD WORKS
The Mbale District Roads Committee has today concluded the launch of road works worth UGX 213,008,000. The two-day event was organized by the Chief Administrative Officer of Mbale District Local Government, Mr. Luke L.L. Lokuda.
According to Mr. Lokuda, the event is meant to create awareness among the community on projects that the government intends to implement, to enable them to supervise the works. ‘Launching of projects enables leaders to be transparent and accountable to the people by detailing the cost of the projects and scope of works such that at the commissioning ceremony the community can appreciate what the government has done but also prevent conflict during implementation’, he said.
The launched road works were 5 roads located in the 4 subcounties of Bufumbo, Bubyangu, Bukiende, and Bungokho
The implementation of the mechanized maintenance works will commence on the 19th May 2025 and will be funded by the Uganda Road Fund (URF) and the Road Rehabilitation Grant (RRG)
